A lot of our readers were extremely disturbed, and very vocal on social media, about the disturbing pictures we posted this week showing cruelty to the marine life in Tenerife by so-called “professionals” at Easydivers Tenerife

Well it is nice to see that an official response has been received from the diving center and here it is in it’s entirety.
Guys good morning (and afternoon in other areas). I have over the last few weeks become a partner with EASYDIVERS. I have this morning just seen some of the pictures as I was not advised of the Facebook page until this morning and like you I am truly horrified. I am advised that most of these pictures have been on this page for around 2 years. I am a staunch advocate and supporter of the Project AWARE principles (Its what we all sign up to) and do not support any interaction of this nature with marine life or the habitat in any way shape or form. I only wish that I became aware of this behaviour before and I would have made alternate business decisions. I am sincerely sorry about this and promise to take action to prevent this behaviour ever happening again. Moreover Individuals concerned have already been dismissed over this, this morning. I can only sincerely apologise over this. Immediate dismissal action has been taken and a programme of re-education is being put in place over the next few days. It has taken a lot for me to write this response having not been privy to this legacy behaviour. I am wholly ashamed at hearing your responses and moreover extremely shocked. I thank-you for highlighting this unacceptable activity and promise that this will under no circumstances ever occur again whilst I have any part in this organisation. My sincere apologies. Steve
This is a great response and providing this is a genuine statement and not simply a PR exercise, we wish Steve all the luck possible in turning around this diving center and praise him for his speedy response to the negative publicity.
