I have to be honest, I was never really a fan of Leonardo DiCaprio. I didn’t get swepped up in the whole Titanic crazyness. That all changed however with movies like “Body of Lies”, “Blood Diamond”, “Shutter Island”, “The Departed” and “Wolf of Wall Street” and I have to confess that I am now a fan!
My feelings have now certainly been compounded since reading the news yesterday of Mr DiCaprio’s dedication to protecting our oceans.
In addition to a recent pledge of $3million to Oceana, yesterday it was announced that Mr DiCaprio would be donating an additional $7million to ocean preservation causes over the next 2 years.
“I’m standing up here as a concerned citizen of this planet who believes that this is the most important issue of our time,” he continued.
“My foundation recently announced a $3 million grant to the organization Oceana to support their efforts to protect sharks, marine mammals and key ocean habitat in the Eastern Pacific. Today, I’m here to commit even more of my foundation’s resources to this cause. I’m pledging an additional $7 million to meaningful ocean conservation projects over the next two years.”
