Gary Crow with EZ Tank Caps announced today that shipping has begun on their new tank valve cover.
Scuba tank caps may not be something you give much thought to until you find yourself on a boat dive needing to swap tanks between dives and can’t pry the darn cap off of the tank with your cold wet hands.
That very scenario repeated over two decades of diving, coupled with increasingly arthritic hands are what led Crow to begin visualizing a better solution. It took more than a year to design the EZ Caps prototype and get the first samples produced. He took those samples on a dive trip to Bonaire and showed them to the folks at Dive Friends Bonaire where the caps were an instant hit. Eight additional months of fine tuning and the first shipment of 3,000 caps are on their way to Bonaire.
The patented design is simple. An easy to grip, textured black pull top overlays the standard brightly colored vinyl portion that slips over the valve.
Crow even researched the string until he found one that doesn’t easily unravel and is durable enough to withstand constant immersion in salt water.
The caps currently come in red, green, and yellow and can be purchased in a variety of quantities. Small orders for individuals can be made online at the company’s website or on Amazon. Wholesale pricing is available on larger quantities in bulk with or without string or packaged for resale in pairs.
