Say hello to today’s featured diver, 13 year old Indigo Bolandrini from El Gouna in the glorious Red Sea. We have featured Indigo before but a lot has changed since our last interview. Not only has she relocated to Egypt from London but she has also now met me while we were on the same dive boat! Indigo has a real passion for the sport and when she is not at school she can be seen heading out in to the blue with our friends from Orca Dive Club El Gouna.

When and where did you start diving?
I started diving in August 2013 in El Gouna Egypt with Orca Dive Club El Gouna.
Why did you start diving?
It was always on my list after learning to kitesurf, however I just never got round to doing it until I decided to do the Junior Open water Diver.
What made you choose to become a dive professional? (if applicable)
I’m still a kid 🙂
Which is your favourite dive site and why?
My favourite dive site is Abu Nuhas which is the reef containing 4 awesome wrecks ; Giannis D, Carnatic, Chrisoula K, and Kimon M, my favourite one is the Carnatic because there’s loads of Nudibranchs.
What has been the most memorable dive of your life and why?
My most memorable dive was at Abu Nugar when 2 dolphins were really ‘snuggling’ with me and imitated everything I did.
If you would come back as a marine life form in your next life, what would that be?
Hammerhead Shark.
Who is your dream dive buddy?
Leonardo DiCaprio.
What dive locations are on your dream “bucket list” and why?
Definitely Elphinstone and the Brother Islands. Also Silfra Crack in Iceland.
What is on your bedside table right now?
Dive log, my dive computer and a PADI keyring.
What is your favourite piece of diving equipment and why?
Oh gosh, had to be my drysuit I could not live without it D7 Pro from Waterproof – a must have.
If you were to launch a campaign to raise awareness on a specific issue that affects divers, the oceans or marine life, what issue would you target and why?
It would be to stop littering the ocean and killing so many marine animals, it’s just disgusting how some people treat the sea. I would call it ‘Poseidon Life’
Where will you be in 10 years and what will you be doing?
I would either be a police diver, underwayer photographer or marine biologist… I still have time to think.
