Join Kirsten and her merry band of divers for a maiden dive voyage to Cuba! Our base will be the fun, yet slightly funky, Tortuga Houseboat. From here, we will explore the protected underwater paradise, the Queen’s Gardens.
This remote marine park lies 60 miles SW of Cuba. The coral reefs here are pretty much the same as when Cristopher Columbus cruised by. The visibility is off the charts here. We’ll discover vertical walls covered with colorful marine life and gorgeous colors. The biggest population of adult fish in the Caribbean hang out here — sharks, snappers, groups, fat jewfish and more. Sharks circle in everywhere. We will encounter silkies, reef, lemon, black tip, king hammerhead and nurse sharks.
If you travel July to November, whale sharks are added to the mix. Above water, this is a dreamy remote location with mangroves to explore and more than 68 species of migratory birds. Ready for more action? We are off to Havana for 3 fun days in this happening town. We’ll have time on our own to explore, ride some of those cool old vintage cars, hear some music, have a mojito or two and have a full day tour as well.
When is this happening?: March 2-12, 2016 – 4 spots left
How much?: $5,650 per person includes 4 nights total in Havana, 6 nights on the houseboat with meals and diving, plus airfare from Cancun to Havana.
