Well-known throughout the Red Sea and at dive shows, Emperor Divers’ Regional Manager, Luke Atkinson, has been promoted to General Manager for the Red Sea in a positive step to manage the day diving and liveaboards for Emperor Divers.
Luke, who has been with Emperor since 2009, has an enviable understanding of all things Red Sea having arrived as a dive instructor and working his way to managerial positions, although his love of diving remains at his core, particularly when taking his camera under water.
Popular with the UK, Dutch and Nordic divers, Luke is also recognised for his entertaining dive show talks. He not only understands what it is that guests want from their holidays but also knows the dive sites, marine life and local people better than many others.
Andy Telford, Emperor Divers’ Managing Director, said, “This is a real string in the bow for us and we know Luke will take on the role with his usual optimistic, ‘can-do’ demeanour. Not only does he get the best from those he works with but guests have a natural respect for his knowledge and friendly approach whilst getting the job done.”
Luke Atkinson said, “It’s a great pleasure to take another step up with Emperor. It was always my ambition to join the company as a guide, even before 2009. I can imagine telling that fresh-faced dive instructor back in 2006, on an Emperor holiday in Sharm, that within 10 years he’d be in charge of all of this. He’d probably think I was narked; and wonder where all his hair went.”
An expanding range of liveaboards in the Maldives sees Emperor Divers enjoying a period of exciting growth and development. With a fleet of liveaboards and dive centres in the Red Sea, Emperor Maldives recently merged their liveaboards with Constellation Fleet Maldives to become the largest liveaboard operator in the area.
