Anyone who has dived with Siren Fleet or Master Liveaboards in the past 3 years will know that Worldwide Dive and Sail offers divers the opportunity to rent Nautilus Lifelines at a token rental fee, with all funds from these rentals going to the Siren Foundation that was created to distribute funds yearly to a selection of marine charities.
In the last few months, two areas where Worldwide Dive and Sail operates have been hit massively by natural disasters. Firstly Fiji bore the onslaught of Cyclone Winston, which caused both great damage and loss of life across the country. Then only 2 short months later, Ecuador was hit by a 7.8 earthquake that caused damage and loss of life, particularly in the western coastal areas.
“After the difficulties these countries are both currently in the process of overcoming, that this year’s donation should literally be a Lifeline. As such Frank and I have decided that the money from 2015 will be split between two charities that are involved in overcoming the effects of these disasters.” says company GM, Mark Shandur.
In Fiji, the money will be donated to the Sea Save Foundation that is working directly to help Fijian families rebuild their lives. Worldwide Dive and Sail partners in Fiji, Volivoli Beach Resort, are coordinating the distribution of these funds. For anyone who wishes to contribute directly can do so at this link.
In Ecuador, Worldwide Dive and Sail is currently working with their people on the ground to get the correct NGO for this matter.
