S/Y June Hong Chian Lee, or The Junk as she is known, is a restored teak wood Chinese merchant sailing vessel that offers a unique liveaboard diving experience in Thailand. With an experienced crew and great food served on board, The Junk is the most charming and distinctive vessel in Thailand. So distinctive in fact that she has been used for several famous movies!
Since her incorporation to the WWDAS flotilla in 2014 she has been offering diving itineraries across the Similan and Surin Islands. As WWDAS is always searching for new exceptional destinations to offer you, they are now offering some great new itineraries while the Similan National Park is closed. Dive with The Junk from May to August and discover the best of the Phi Phi Islands, Koh Haa, Hing Daeng and Hin Muang on a combination of 2 day/1 night and 3 day/2 night cruises!
“This part of the Andaman Sea offer is a great variety of dives for all levels and it will be a pleasure to introduce our guests to it on board such a charming and historic boat!” says company GM, Mark Shandur.
The Junk is a 33m sailing boat with three masts that can take up to 18 divers in 6 air conditioned cabins, offering a choice of double cabins, triple cabins and quads. All of them with their own private bathrooms with hot showers.
The Phi Phi National Marine Park and the islands of Koh Haa offer pinnacles, incredible limestone walls full of healthy soft corals and gorgonians, as well as shallow coral gardens full of macro life ready to be discovered by you! You can find tigertail seahorses, ornate ghost pipefish and nudibranch around the islands, but that’s not all! Leopard sharks, black tip sharks, bamboo sharks, turtles, octopus, scorpion fish, frog fish, schools of barracudas and snappers can also be found. If the weather conditions allow it, The Junk will also offer diving in Hin Deang and Hin Muang. These two sites, only 500 m away to each other, offer a wide diversity of everyday reef life on both sites such as tiny invertebrates, big schools of snappers and barracudas as well as bamboo and leopard sharks!
Dive into the past with The Junk!
