The Scuba News Canada will be featuring a weekly update from Matthew Lerpiniere on the diving conditions at Brockville, Ontario. Here is what it is in store for July 22-July 24.
It is expected to be nice and sunny this weekend in the Thousand Islands Region, although there is a risk of thunderstorms on Friday and Saturday. As well, there is a heat advisory in effect for the area through into the weekend. Temperatures are expected to be into the 30’s and feel like they are into the 40’s with the humidity.
With the temperature being so high it is important if you are diving, or involved in any activity, to stay hydrated. For divers it is important to be well hydrated as lack of hydration may have a relationship to getting Decompression Sickness.
On Sunday in Kingston there is the taste of Kingston taking place in the downtown. In the Brockville area, there is the art festival taking place and the Kemptville Live Music festival.
This past week I had the pleasure of taking a tour of the Aquarium in Brockville and was very impressed. This is definitely worth the time, and appeals to parents as well as the children. Be sure to make this a stop if you are in the Brockville area this weekend.
There are plenty of boats that will be heading out on the river this weekend. As always if you are looking to dive contact the various charters and see if there is still space available.
As well, Centeen Park is always a busy spot. The new sculptures are attracting the crowds, but it is always a great spot to just get into for a shallow dive if you just need to get in the water.
Dive Safe.
