American scuba equipment manufacturers Oceanic and Hollis have been sold to the Huish Outdoors Group, which acquired the brands from American Underwater Products
American Underwater Products, founded in 1972 by Bob Hollis, originally split the business between the Hollis brand of technical diving gear, and Oceanic for recreational diving equipment.
Oceanic and Hollis are Huish Outdoors’ sixth and seventh acquisitions since 2011. Its brands also include: Atomic Aquatics, BARE, Liquivision, Sharkskin, Stahlsac, Suunto and Zeagle.
“We are extremely proud of the brands we own and distribute and are committed to building them with our retail partnerships through a diversified and complementary portfolio of products,” Mike Huish said.
The Huish website indicated there will be no outward changes to the brand. It just changed hands. All Hollis and Oceanic products will still be available. However, they are not taking new rebreather orders at this time.
