Search for Canadian diver near Puerto Vallarta expands.
A scuba diver from Vernon, British Columbia, who disappeared from waters near Puerto Vallarta, is the object of a search involving boats, helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft.
Gloria Miller went missing from Arcos Marine Park at 9:30 a.m. February 15. The dive shop Banderas Scuba Republic has organized a search by their rescue diver and friends. But the search operation goes beyond that. The Mexican navy, Vallarta Civil Protection, Canadian Consulate and a helicopter from Jalisco State are also involved. The Canadian Consulate is helping in the co-ordination of recommendations.
Water current maps are being used in a bid to find Miller more quickly. Volunteers searched both the water and land. The navy is taking part in a grid search, which involves following known currents. The search has expanded.
The family has thanked searchers for their response to find Miller but also acknowledged the community for its thoughts and prayers.
The family has returned home to Vernon, British Columbia where Gloria’s husband is expected to make a statement. Until then, the family is asking for privacy.
