Hi, I’m Andrea, the Founder of Making Waves Photography. First and foremost, I would like to personally thank each and every one of you for visiting this page, and I hope you’ve enjoyed your time here.
I’m a Canadian-born photographer who spends her time between homes in Toronto, Canada, and Cape Town, South Africa. I’ve had a passion for photography since I picked up my first Nikon as a small child. Fast forward to today, and I’m using that passion to enable change in my community and throughout the world. Ever since I started diving with sharks back in 2015, I have been ruthlessly fighting to engage the general public on the significance of sharks and the ocean as a whole. I want to utilize my skills in photography to convey the beauty and emotion that sits just behind the eyes of every animal I encounter. No matter the megafauna, I have accepted it as my duty to employ my skill set to protect those of whom cannot protect themselves. My goal is to show the world that these animals can feel, and with that maybe I can help humans find their connection within nature.
Whether I am in South Africa studying Great White Sharks or the Bahamas photographing a superpod of dolphins, I work relentlessly on my craft-both behind the lens and in the field. In addition to my photography, I’m proud to represent One Ocean Diving as an Outreach Ambassador tasked with creating and managing community conservation events. Also, I have been awarded an opportunity as an onshore volunteer for the internationally recognized conservation organization, Sea Shepherd, where I deploy my skills to further their mission to protect our planet. Using my platform to raise awareness to my cause is just the beginning, and I’m ready to get to work!
I hope that your time here was well spent, and I hope you’ll join us again soon! In the meantime, kick back, relax, and submerge yourself into my breathtaking underwater utopia that I call Making Waves Photography.
