“We are very disappointed about having to cancel the Festival for 2020,” said David Leverton, Executive Director of the Maritime Museum of BC. “The decision was made by the Board of Directors to protect the public, the boaters, and Museum staff and volunteers from any associated risks related to COVID-19 and to do our part in keeping our community safe.”
The Maritime Museum of BC is in the process of preparing video content related to classic wooden boats, including historic footage from previous Classic Boat Festivals, which it hopes to release through its social media channels in time for the Labour Day Weekend (September 5-7, 2020). Anyone interested in seeing this footage is invited to follow the Maritime Museum of BC’s website or on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
The Museum is looking ahead to 2021 with plans to run the Victoria Classic Boat Festival once more on Labour Day weekend.
