Presented by Ocean Elders and Medley Media.
Navigating the deepest parts of the ocean in small underwater submersibles is the conversation on the next episode of “Dive In with Sylvia & Liz” with ocean explorers Dr. Sylvia Earle and Liz Taylor.
The mostly undocumented story of the planet’s ocean health is found beyond the reach of scuba divers and the top one hundred feet of water that few of us have experienced.
Since the 1930s, scientists and oceanographers have been pioneering ways to enable humans to navigate the deep ocean safely, constantly innovating new ways to explore the most unapproachable depths of the open sea.
Our series host, Dr. Sylvia Earle, has spent a good part of her 7,000 hours underwater in these tiny submersible crafts. Some are large enough for a few aquanauts, and some are personal pressurized suits, in which she dove to depths of over 1000 feet in parts of the ocean previously unexplored.
Join Dr. Sylvia Earle and her daughter Liz Taylor for this unique episode of “Dive in with Sylvia & Liz”. They will take us on a personal and pictorial journey documenting the evolution of the submersible, and highlighting the most important discoveries and accomplishments, including Sylvia’s own record setting explorations.
They will also share their plans and dreams for Project Deep Hope, bringing access to the “twilight zone” of the ocean; the region where the faintest rays of sunlight still penetrate, and contains the greatest animal migrations on earth.
Dr. Earle is an acclaimed global treasure of conservation and activism, a renowned oceanographer, Chairman of Mission Blue, an Ocean Elder, and a National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence. Liz Taylor is a lifelong ocean explorer and entreprepreneur.
“Dive in with Sylvia & Liz” is a casual, free-flowing, and educational conversation and encourages ocean enthusiasts of all ages to text or call in. After a short presentation, Sylvia and Liz will take questions via Q & A text and voice call-in from the attendees. Get your questions ready!
