Cady Coleman joins Dive in with Liz and Sylvia.
Dive in with Liz and Sylvia celebrates Earth Day with retired NASA astronaut Cady Coleman. It certainly seems appropriate to honor Earth with two women explorers who have seen the world from high above the skies and deep below the seas. Catherine Coleman, known as Cady, is a chemist and former US Air Force colonel. She is a veteran of two Space Shuttle missions, and departed the International Space Station on 23 May 2011, as a crew member of Expedition 27 after logging 159 days in space. Cady’s flute duet from space, with Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull, has been viewed over 600k times on YouTube. It was the first Space-Earth duet and was performed on the 50th anniversary of Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin’s first human journey into outer space.
Cady’s father was an oceanographer, so Cady shares Sylvia’s love of the ocean. They will discuss exploration, their experiences in working in science, and share their personal stories. They are good friends, so we expect this to be a warm and entertaining exchange.
DIVE IN with Liz and Sylvia is a casual, free-flowing, and educational conversation and encourages ocean and nature enthusiasts of all ages to join. Sylvia, Liz, and Cady will take questions via Q & A text and voice call-in from the attendees. Get your questions ready!
Kids – send in your ocean or space pictures to oceanelders@gmail.com and we will try to show them in our slide presentation. Please include your first name and your age.
