Doing a little fall cleaning and raising money for adaptive divers training and travel, the Dive Pirates Foundation is hosting a Pirates Purge sale of dive equipment Saturday, October 9, at 8th Wonder Brewery and Distillery in Houston.
“We thought it was fitting to get together at a great place with vittles and grog as well as music and pirates to raise some money for next year’s recipients,” said founder Barbara Thompson who is organizing the event. “We know our pirates are anxious to get back to diving, that’s why we held a skills refresher day at The Scuba Ranch in May and this event in October to get together and have fun while raising money for our pirates in training.”
The Dive Pirates held a successful trip with six new recipients and two returning recipients to Key Largo in June as most travel restrictions continue to hinder trips outside the United States. With 15 recipients training for 2022, the foundation is committed to completing their training and experience the life-changing fellowship and freedom of movement scuba provides.
“We are also in the midst of our membership drive, and anyone who comes to the event and purchases an auto-pirate bosun membership will receive a Dive Pirates embroidered visor. We hope all of our friends in the diving and non-diving community will come and have a great time with us and support adaptive diving and living fearlessly.”
