“Becoming Cousteau”, produced by National Geographic Documentary Films, takes an inside look at the life of explorer, filmmaker, and beloved adventurer Jacques-Yves Cousteau, his iconic films and inventions, and the experiences that shaped him into the twentieth century’s most unique and renowned environmental voice.
Adventurer, filmmaker, inventor, author, unusual celebrity, and conservationist: these are just a few of the roles he’s played. Jacques-Yves Cousteau and his explorations beneath the sea became linked with a love of science and the natural world for more than four decades. He brought the entire globe with him as he learnt to safeguard the environment, sounding sirens more than 50 years ago about the warming oceans and our planet’s vulnerability.
Liz Garbus, a two-time Academy Award nominee, gives an inside look at Cousteau and his life and the man who inspired generations to conserve the earth.
On October 22, 2021 the film will be released in select theatres.
