Tom Mount, a pioneer in technical and cave diving has sadly passed away at 82.
Tom was founding member of the National Association for Cave Diving, the first cave diver training organization in the United States and in 1992 was appointed president and chief executive officer of IANTD, a position he held until 2005.
Mount was often considered to be one of the early pioneers of diver training, including developing dive tables in relation to the use of trimix.
Mount published a number of technical diving texts, including the Technical Diver Encyclopedia, Exploration and Mixed Gas Diving Encyclopedia and Tek Closed Circuit Rebreather.
Often referred to as a Legend, Tom will certainly be missed. Our condolences to his friends and family at this sad time.
