A scuba diver was reported missing in Scapa Flow, Orkney on the morning of Thursday, 28 September. The search and rescue operation initiated by the Coastguard was concluded that night.
Upon receiving an alert at approximately 11.10 am, the Coastguard launched a response effort as the unnamed diver had not returned to their dive-boat. Helicopters from Inverness, Stromness, and Sumburgh, along with rescue teams from Kirkwall, Hoy, and Stromness, collaborated in the search. Additionally, RNLI teams from Stromness and Longhope were involved, and nearby vessels were requested to provide assistance.
The operation was officially terminated at approximately 9.30 pm, several hours after sunset. Police Scotland, informed of the incident around 2 pm, is now responsible for the ongoing investigation
