According to multiple news sources, two bodies were recovered from a Rockport beach on Wednesday. Rockport Police were called to Front Beach at 11 a.m. in response to a deceased man found ashore after a morning dive. It was later revealed that he was one of two divers in the area. A search commenced for the second diver.
The Coast Guard’s Research Vessel Ocean Reporter, aided by sonar, retrieved the body of a 70-year-old man in diving gear from the waters near the beach around 7 p.m. The identities of the deceased divers are undisclosed.
Multiple agencies, including Rockport Police Department, Massachusetts State Police, Coast Guard Station Gloucester, Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, and Research Vessel Ocean Reporter, were involved in the search. The investigation continues.
