A male visitor hailing from Washington tragically passed away on Monday following a scuba diving incident in the waters near Kōloa Landing in Po‘ipū, Hawaii, as reported by Kauai Now.
The visitor, identified by Kaua‘i Police as Rex Shayne Queen, 58 years old, was visiting from Seattle, Washington.
According to an initial report, at approximately 9 a.m. on Monday, November 6, an unidentified male visitor who was engaged in scuba diving in the vicinity of Kōloa Landing experienced a medical emergency, resulting in him becoming unresponsive. First responders promptly located and brought the diver to shore.
Upon arrival at the scene, personnel from American Medical Response (AMR) took charge of the situation, while Kaua‘i Fire Department firefighters from the Kōloa fire station were administering CPR to Mr. Queen. Subsequently, the Washington resident was swiftly transported to Wilcox Medical Center, where a medical doctor pronounced him deceased.
