On Saturday, the Thai Maritime Office Centre provided information regarding an incident involving the vessel named “Sawan Tour.” The boat had embarked on a journey to pick up 18 tourists from Thap Lamu Pier and unfortunately capsized in the vicinity of Ko Torinla island, which is situated within the Surin Islands National Park—a cluster of five islands located approximately 55 kilometers from the mainland in the Andaman Sea.
Among the 18 individuals aboard, 16 have been successfully rescued and transported to Khura Buri Pier in the nearby area. Regrettably, two individuals, identified as a crew member serving as a cook and a British tourist, remain unaccounted for.
In response to this distressing situation, authorities have initiated a comprehensive search operation utilizing inflatable boats and a helicopter. The prevailing belief is that strong currents may have carried the missing individuals as far as 111 kilometers from the site of the accident.
