Experience the epitome of traditional Indonesian seafaring on your next scuba diving liveaboard trip aboard the La Galigo, a magnificent 33-meter Phinisi sailing boat constructed in 2012. Meticulously designed by a passionate diver and crafted by skilled Sulawesi artisans, this liveaboard caters specifically to scuba enthusiasts. Housing seven premium en-suite cabins, each equipped with individually controlled air-conditioning, the vessel offers an intimate setting for up to 14 guests. Three cabin classes are available, including the top of the line cabin, referred to as the ‘suite,’ which features a private balcony, television and fridge for added comfort.
With extensive collective years of experience sailing and diving around many of Indonesia’s more than 18,000 beautiful islands, we take great pride in our Indonesian team. Safety and professionalism in boat management and diving is our core value. We keep dive groups small at a maximum ratio of 5 guests to one experienced dive guide. Divers of the same skill level and experience are grouped together to ensure you get the most out of your trip.
La Galigo features a dedicated dive deck to gear up, and diving platform at the rear of the vessel, to make embarking onto the dive tenders safe and easy. Complementing this feature are two 6-meter dive tenders, providing convenient access to the captivating underwater world. We also have add on options such as Nitrox and 15L tanks for those wishing to get a little extra out of their dive.
All our operating areas offer excellent dive sites adorned with fish-covered reefs and an abundance of macro subjects. From the dive site with the highest ever recorded fish count, chances to see rare spectacles such as Manta Ray mating chains, or the ability to see 75% of the worlds coral species in one region, La Galigo Liveaboard trips have something for every kind of diver.
Our itineraries promise diverse experiences, from trekking the secret vantage point of Wayag Lagoon, cruising amidst the enchanting limestone formations of Raja Ampat, to “walking with dinosaurs” getting up close to Komodo Dragons on our Jurassic Komodo itinerary. Scuba enthusiasts will revel in the opportunity to explore the vibrant marine life of the coral triangle, whether that be in Raja Ampat or Komodo.
After your dive, relax in one of the communal spaces on La Galigo, which are equally impressive as the amazing dive sites you have just witnessed. These spaces feature a spacious living and dining area adorned with a sizable TV, a well-curated book collection, and numerous power outlets to charge electronic devices such as laptops and cameras. Thanks to an isolated engine room, disturbances from motor and generator noises are kept to a minimum. Delectable meals, including options for vegans and vegetarians, are served throughout the day, ensuring guests are well-nourished during their maritime journey. For those seeking relaxation, outdoor common areas furnished with soft comfortable sofas offer an ideal space to unwind while enjoying the refreshing ocean breeze.
