As a person who tries to be as environmentally aware as possible, I am always looking for the best and most sustainable options for daily use items. With Motherhood imminent the concern and worry about wasteful products like nappies is at the forefront of my mind.
Completely motivated by utilising compostable and reusable options I looked into what the market had to offer and reviews on responsible brands.
I caught up with the guys at Ecoriginals who produce plant based, eco luxury nappies and wipes. With nature being at the core of its ethos I was more than pleased to start a working relationship with them and to try out some of their products.
‘Through a lack of sustainable alternatives, disposable nappies have been piling up in landfills since 1965. Today landfills are bursting at the seams with an estimated 400 billion traditional plastic nappies – some taking up to 500 years to decompose. The first ever disposable nappy may remain completely intact until the year 2465, a truly revolting and confronting thought. With each child needing on average 8 nappies a day, for up to 4 years, the severity of the nappy crisis becomes clear.’ Ecoriginals.
I was also enormously pleased to find eenee compostables, another breathable, absorbent and comfortable brand that are made with renewable plant based, certified compostable materials that pride themselves on being non toxic and Earth friendly.
With our fight currently bigger than ever to look as closely as we can about what we are using, throwing away, recycling and ignoring the time is now to make as many small changes as we can.
With sanitary products being an incredibly big contributor to our environment we can and should alter what we use to limit their impact.
