A scuba diving event in County Donegal was cancelled after a man in his 40s died on Saturday.
According a BBC News report, the incident occurred in Teelin Bay during the North West Dive Rally, organized by the Donegal Bay Sub Aqua Club. RTÉ News reported that the man experienced difficulties during the dive, which led to the tragic event. Gardaí (Irish police) stated that they were called for assistance by the Irish Coastguard around 12:30 local time.
Two men were recovered from the water; the man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second man, in his 60s, is receiving treatment at University Hospital Galway. The local coroner has been informed, and a post-mortem examination is scheduled in the coming days.
