A scuba diver was hospitalized after being rescued from the water at a remote beach in New South Wales on Saturday afternoon.
The diver remains in critical condition.
Bystanders at Flint and Steel Beach in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, north of Sydney, performed CPR on the man and contacted emergency services.
Emergency responders executed a complex operation to reach the 40-year-old diver. Rural Fire and Fire Rescue teams, NSW Police, and the Westpac rescue helicopter were all dispatched and arrived shortly after 2pm, according to a NSW Ambulance spokesperson.
A specialist rescue team from NSWFR also participated in the mission.
The diver was placed on a Rural Fire Service boat and transported to a port where an ambulance took him to Northern Beaches Hospital.
