A trip to the Isle of Wight and Compton beach provided a much needed spell of clean sea air. I am a painter and mural artist and so take lots of inspiration from what I bump into and the places I like to spend time. Skelly, my partner in crime is a tattoo artist and has inked some incredible sea creature tattoos for clients.
We walked on the beach together on the island to see the legendary dinosaur footprints. We could smell something foul as we were walking along the sand and we noticed a dark mound up near the cliff. As we got closer the smell got stronger and we found a decaying porpoise. Covered in maggots, nature doing its thing. We took some photos and marvelled at the amount of maggots, so many. Every dog walker had a battle to keep their dogs away from it! The Isle of Wight is an amazing place to explore with so much to find around it’s coastline. We found fossils and rocks, pretty shells and marvelled at how beautiful the beaches were.
We love where we live and are so lucky to have so much on our doorstep to be inspired by. As creatives we get so much from being out and about and really resonate with nature. Get yourself to the beach as often as you can.
