Sylvan Lake Cleanup – 21st Annual
NOTE: SUNDAY, Sept 22, 2024 (Not Saturday)
Divers, Paddlers & Beach Cleanup Volunteers Wanted
Meet at the “Main Pier” area (see the circled area above on map), limited parking for divers & paddlers only.
9 AM: Waivers & Set up Gear
10 AM: Dive Safety Briefing & Event Start
10:30 AM: Paddlers launch canoes/kayaks weather permitting
NOON: Lunch provided by The Town of Sylvan Lake
1 PM: Fill out Data Cards & Dispose of Trash
Divers – bring (rent) one tank & all the scuba gear needed, including 7 mm wetsuit (or dry-suit), hood, gloves, fins, weights & belt + a few extra lbs of lead is recommended. Gear up from vehicle or bring a tarp. Mesh Bags & Cutting Devices usually provided by the AUC for divers.
Shoreline Cleanup Volunteers: dress appropriately for the weather, with sturdy shoes, garden gloves are handy, bring small plastic container for “sharps”. Garbage bags provided. Children must be accompanied by an adult but all are welcome. Bring a friend & cleanup your favourite area of Sylvan Lake park.

Sylvan Lake is a large lake in central Alberta, Canada. The resort town of Sylvan Lake is established on the shores of the lake, west of the city of Red Deer. Sylvan Lake is a mesotrophic lake with a total area of 42.8km2, and a maximum depth of 18.3m. It lies at an elevation of 974m. Six communities are developed adjacent to the shores of Sylvan Lake.
