We are receiving multiple reports that M/Y Seaduction struck the reef sank off the coast of Egypt in the Southern Red Sea this week. Miraculously, all passengers survived without injury. The group of 18 divers from Laval had embarked on a diving cruise in the Red Sea, but in the early morning hours of October 24, their trip took a terrifying turn.
According to a report by France Bleu Mayenne, at around 4:00 a.m., the boat began to sink, forcing passengers to evacuate and take refuge on life rafts. They drifted at sea for nearly eight hours before being rescued by a passing trawler. Shortly afterward, the Egyptian Navy intervened, safely transporting the divers back to shore.
Now staying at a hotel in Marsa Alam, the divers, though safe, face additional challenges. Many lost their identification papers during the incident. The French Embassy in Cairo is assisting the group to expedite their return to Mayenne, ensuring a quick and safe journey home.
We will update as more information becomes available.
