Captain Paul Watson was taken into custody by Danish authorities on July 21, 2024, when he arrived in Nuuk, Greenland, aboard the M/Y John Paul DeJoria. According to Danish officials, the arrest was undertaken because of a Japanese international arrest order pertaining to his anti-whaling activities in the Antarctic almost ten years ago.
