Falkland Islands — South Georgia — Elephant Island — Western Antarctic Peninsula — Polar Circle
Embark on a life-changing, 24-day journey to one of Earth’s most remote and breathtaking regions. And meet at least six species of penguins along the way.
During February 14 to March 10, 2026, Sea Women Expeditions (SWX) will assemble a team of 25 extraordinary explorers to travel to the Bottom of the World—the Falkland Islands, South Georgia Island, Elephant Island, the Western Antarctic Peninsula, and the Polar Circle.
In partnership with Blue Green Expeditions, SWX will provide a platform for Indigenous and non-Indigenous women and non-binary, two-spirit, and gender-diverse explorers to develop leadership skills and gain ocean research experience in one of the harshest climates on Earth.
Answer our call to join (and help shape) SWX’s leadership and arts programs and our ocean research and dive & snorkel expedition to the Southern Ocean and the Weddell Sea aboard Oceanwide Expeditions’ M/V Hondius, the world’s first-registered Polar Class 6 vessel built from the ground up for expedition cruising.
During this 21st century polar expedition, we’ll bring together a world-class lineup of international experts across the STEAM (science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics) fields. We’ll conduct pioneering ocean research, immersing ourselves in polar waters and participating in a unique leadership program that merges the arts and the sciences. Early-, mid- and late-career team members are welcome.
SWX is seeking oceanographers, scientists, engineers, visual and performing artists, geographers, historians, researchers, writers, educators, journalists, business leaders, underwater videographers and photographers, remotely operated vehicle (ROV) pilots, and medical and scuba diving professionals to contribute their skills and expertise to create a diverse and collaborative team of 21st century polar explorers.
In partnership with BlueGreen Expeditions and Oceanwide Expeditions, SWX will work alongside dive masters who have extensive experience in Antarctic scuba diving and snorkelling operations.
Ocean Research
The Western Antarctic Peninsula is a highly productive marine ecosystem has experienced extended periods of change since the1950s, in the form of 3°C warming, glacier retreat, reduction of sea-ice cover, warming of the surface ocean of 1°C warming, and shifts in marine populations, among others.
Backed by scientific permits and in collaboration with university partners, SWX’s ocean research will include sea water sampling for eDNA analysis, zooplankton and phytoplankton studies, and invertebrate zoological investigations.
Each STEAM participant will have the chance to contribute to valuable environmental research while building lasting connections at the Bottom of the World.
Breaking Boundaries
This is more than an expedition—it’s an opportunity to break boundaries, gain unparalleled leadership skills in the field, and to inspire global change. Together, we can create ripple effects around the planet.
Join us, for an Antarctic journey that will leave you forever transformed.
