Among many other achievements and firsts in the industry, she was a member of the Dive Industry Foundation’s Board of Directors, a Lifetime Charter Member of the Dive Industry Association (# 0006-L), and a co-founder of the Women Divers Hall of Fame.
Jennifer was a NAUI, PADI, and LA County instructor who earned her certification in Micronesia in 1980. She was the only female president of the LA County UIA after a year at UNEXSO (Bahamas). Jennifer founded WETT (Women’s Equipment Test Team) and the Women’s Scuba Association in 1993. She has written a lot of pieces about family matters, travel, and equipment. She was also the director of DTRG’s specialized markets, tested and advised on equipment, and wrote a book on beach and boat diving.
Jennifer King, the founder of the Women’s Scuba Association and WETT (Women’s Equipment Test Team), partnered with Lorraine Sadler in the late 1990s. The two gave well-prepared presentations at consecutive annual Diving Equipment and Marketing Association (DEMA) events. They offered guidance and insight on how well-executed design, including colour and technology, would directly help diving manufacturers.
