According to owner Blair McKeil, Theodore Too, the cherished life-size model of Theodore Tugboat, partially sank while in port.
The 20-meter craft, which was transferred from Halifax Harbour to the Port of Hamilton in June 2021, inexplicably took on water Tuesday evening (17th January 2024) while at the Ontario Shipyard in Port Weller.
The cause of this regrettable tragedy is still unknown at this time, but McKeil stated that “we are committed to executing a safe and successful refloat of our beloved Theodore Too.”
The beloved replica of the Theodore tugboat that partially sank in St. Catharines, Ontario, has been refloated as of December 19, 2024. Now, the focus is on creating a strategy to bring the cherished tug on dry ground.
Inspired by the children’s television program “Theodore Tugboat” in 1993, the 24-year-old ship has long been a symbol of Canadian culture.
