Tragedy struck off the coast of Marsa Alam today when a shark attack claimed the life of an Italian snorkeler and left another injured. The incident occurred near the Sataya Resort, a popular snorkeling and diving destination.
According to reports, a father and son had ventured into the water for a snorkeling excursion when they were attacked by what is believed to have been a tiger shark. Despite efforts to save both individuals, one succumbed to their injuries.
Further updates reveal that the fatal victim suffered a severe injury to his right leg, resulting in critical blood loss. Unfortunately, rescue efforts were unsuccessful. The second snorkeler sustained injuries to both legs but we do not know their current status.
Investigations are ongoing to confirm the species involved and to assess safety measures in the area. Local authorities and resort operators are working to ensure the safety of tourists and residents in the aftermath of this incident.
