Floating Tiki Bar Rescues 2 Jet Skiers in Halifax Harbour

Over the May 2026 long weekend, a bachelor party in Nova Scotia took a wild turn when their floating tiki bar—operated by Tiki Tours Halifax—became an emergency rescue vessel in the middle of Halifax Harbour.

Here is how the bizarre, yet heroic situation went down:

The Setup: A group of 11 guys were out on the water celebrating a bachelor party on a grass-roofed, fully licensed floating tiki boat.
The Emergency: The group spotted two men on privately owned jet skis in serious trouble. One of the jet skis had started taking on water and sinking. When the rider tried to hop onto the second jet ski to hitch a ride, their combined weight capsized it, leaving both men stranded in the open water.
The Rescue: Stephen Jeddry, the captain and owner of the tiki tour, quickly maneuvered the floating bar over to the stranded riders. The bachelor party immediately jumped into action, pulling both jet skiers safely out of the water and onto the tiki boat.

While the imagery of getting rescued by a floating tropical bar sounds humorous, it was actually a life-saving moment. Water temperatures in the Halifax Harbour during late May hover around a freezing 6°C to 8°C (43°F to 46°F). At those temperatures, cold shock and hypothermia can set in rapidly, making a quick rescue absolutely critical.
