Franklin Expedition series launches on March 26 on the AMC network
Early in “The “Terror,” a 10-part series on Sir John Franklin’s bid to find a shorter route to China, an actor said “It’s only the ice.” This comment foreshadowed what would befall the explorers and their ships, HMS Erebus and HMS Terror.
It describes the exploits of the two Royal Navy ships and is based in part on a 2007 novel by Dan Simmons. “The Terror” premiers March 26. This series involves two ships from the Royal Navy trying to find a shorter route to China. It was known as the Franklin Expedition.
Instead to going south around the tip of South America they opted to go north, where the comment “it’s only the ice,” would prove prophetic. The HMS Erebus and HMS Terror were discovered in 2014 and 2016. The fate of Sir John Franklin and his crew is not known.
Johnny Issaluk, a Canadian actor, and the only male member of SEDNA has a role in this series. Johnny lives in Iqaluit, Nunavut
