Filmmaker David Marsh and non-profit Diveheart team up on award winning story
Diveheart announces that award-winning documentary “Adapting to Dive” by Los Angeles filmmaker David Marsh has won its 9th international film festival award. The filmmaker as well as Diveheart’s Founder and Executive Director encourage everyone in the dive community and the community of individuals with disabilities to watch and share the documentary.
The award-winning documentary, “Adapting to Dive”, follows filmmaker, David Marsh, on a transformational journey after losing his son to an opioid overdose on Thanksgiving Day, just one week before he was to join the non-profit group Diveheart on an adaptive scuba diving trip to Cozumel Mexico. Along with David’s story, the film highlights the highs and lows of a group of scuba divers with disabilities.
Since its premiere in May, the documentary “Adapting to Dive” has received honors from nine film festivals including the Orlando International Film Festival, Cine Paris, Marina del Rey Film Festival, and Impact Doc awards. The film is now available on the popular streaming service Amazon Video, tubiTV and other streaming services.
In the words of filmmaker David Marsh; “After going through this entire process of creating a film, releasing it to the world, and seeing the response, what I’ve learned is that we are all adapting to something in life. Diveheart and the adaptive divers showed me that we have to learn to go through these challenging things. It is important to remain in a positive state no matter what happens because it doesn’t matter WHAT happens, it only matters what you DO with what happens that makes the difference in your life.”
“The story that David has articulated through film in the documentary Adapting to Dive is nothing short of amazing.” Said Tinamarie Hernandez, Diveheart Executive Director. “Throughout the film you see the transformation that David was going through during the week of the trip. A transformation that no one on the trip except David and his brother, Scott realized was unfolding each day”, she added.
