Joe Adams (PADI, SSI, and SDI dive instructor, fire investigator, dive store owner) formerly of Ridgeway, Ontario, a well-known figure in the scuba diving community, died on March 5, 2024, from leukemia.
“Today I have lost one of my best friends Joe Adams. Scuba diving brought us together, Fire prevention kept us together after scuba diving. Less than a year ago you were so excited with your new house in Costa Rica, a new beginning. Who would ever think, 9 months later it would be the end. I’m completely heartbroken, devastated by this, and oneday we will see each other again. Joe was a PADI, and an SSI SCUBA Instructor as well as a Fire Investigator. We were two dive store owners that were friends before owning stores, and we relied on expertise of each other in scuba, and including fire prevention questions to put customers first, balancing two very similar jobs together. Friends as dive store owners that did events together, friendship that came before anything else. I feel like I have lost part of me that will never heal. Joe, you were and still are “one of the good guys” you told me that not even a month ago. I’m at such a loss right now, a void that will never heal. Joe did make this world a better place, and made it better for so many people out there. Joe would do anything for anybody, anytime. I love you, and I always will Joe very much. Give your loved ones a kiss and hug today everyone, life is so short. Cancer took another angel from us.“
