The Gqeberha police department is currently conducting investigations into the discovery of two bodies in separate incidents. According to Captain Andre’ Beetge, a spokesperson for the police, the body of a 30-year-old man was found washed ashore at Sardinia Bay. The man was wearing diving gear, leading to suspicions of drowning. However, his identity cannot be disclosed as his next of kin have yet to be notified. The Walmer police detectives have initiated an investigation into this incident.
In another occurrence, a different man’s body was found floating in the waters of the Gqeberha harbour. Captain Beetge mentioned that the cause of death remains undetermined. Detectives at the Humewood police station have opened an inquest docket in relation to this case.
These discoveries follow closely after another incident where the body of a man in a wetsuit was found at Cape Recife. The deceased was identified as 31-year-old Athule Phindani.
