Emperor Divers has introduced a thrilling new itinerary which explores one of Indonesia’s last diving frontiers.
New for 2025, the trip enables guests to embark on a journey through the hidden treasures of the amazing Alor archipelago providing encounters with awe-inspiring marine life, from playful dolphins and majestic whales to the elusive mola mola and various species of sharks.
Because of its location, this part of the Alor archipelago is an area difficult to reach other than from a liveaboard making it an extra-special diving experience.
And the incredible adventure is made even better by the fact it is enjoyed from onboard the stunning Emperor Raja Laut – an intimate schooner-style liveaboard which accommodates just 12 guests and has just been beautifully refurbished.
During her time out of the water in drydock, Emperor have done careful work upgrading the decking and carried out a complete refurbishment of the cabins and bathrooms.
It means Emperor Raja Laut is now even prettier and more comfortable than she ever has been.
The Alor archipelago consists of about 20 mountainous islands with Alor itself and neighbouring Pantar the largest. The volcanic peak of Mount Sirung is a dominant figure at the southern tip of the latter and it is between these two islands that the new trip takes place with the deep surrounding waters forming part of the world-famous Coral Triangle, a region renowned for its incredible marine biodiversity.
One of the highlights is Kalabahi Bay, famed for its macro and muck diving, where the underwater landscapes are as dramatic as the volcanic peaks that rise above the sea. Here, vibrant coral formations thrive, nurtured by the powerful currents that bring an array of marine creatures to life.
Other dive sites to be visited include places with self-explanatory names such as The Cathedral, Sharks Galore and the Great Wall of Pantar.
The itinerary is a dream for experienced divers, featuring dives at seamounts teeming with trevallies and barracuda tornadoes, and night dives where the elusive Rhinopias might make an appearance.
The adventure doesn’t stop underwater, though. The Alor itinerary will show guests the remarkable way of life on land where ancient traditions continue to thrive. An example of this could be the chance to swim with local children who come to join you and dive using goggles which are handmade from glass bottles and wood.
This journey is more than just a diving trip – it’s an immersive experience in a world where nature and culture collide, leaving you with memories that will last a lifetime.
Prepare for an unforgettable adventure.
