Messe Berlin, one of the world’s leading trade fair organizers, has officially launched Messe Berlin India, a strategic move underscoring its long-term commitment to the Indian subcontinent — one of Asia’s fastest-growing economies. Headquartered in the Delhi NCR region, the newly incorporated subsidiary will drive the growth of the ITB India travel trade show and act as a catalyst for future industry-specific trade fair projects across the country.
With this development, Messe Berlin is positioning India as a pivotal hub for innovation, collaboration, and sustainable business development within the global exhibitions industry.
“India is a key market for us — vibrant, diverse, and full of opportunities. With Messe Berlin India, we are laying long-term foundations to build strong partnerships, support local industries, and elevate our global platforms,” said Dr. Mario Tobias, CEO of Messe Berlin.
Katrina Leung, Vice President Asia Pacific for Messe Berlin and Managing Director of Messe Berlin Asia Pacific, will also lead Messe Berlin India. Her appointment signifies continuity and experienced leadership in expanding the brand’s footprint in South Asia.
“Messe Berlin India marks an exciting new chapter for us. It allows us to deepen our engagement and better serve our partners, exhibitors, and visitors,” said Leung. “ITB India has already laid the foundation, and we’re committed to scaling our impact in India’s dynamic trade fair landscape.”
ITB India: Driving Growth in the Travel and Tourism Sector
Since its inaugural edition in 2023, ITB India has become a flagship platform for connecting the global travel and tourism industry with the Indian and South Asian markets. Held annually in Mumbai, the three-day B2B trade show brings together key decision-makers from the MICE, leisure, corporate travel, and travel technology sectors.
ITB India is complemented by MICE Show India, Travel Tech India, and the ITB India Conference, offering unparalleled opportunities for networking, deal-making, and industry insights.
The next edition, ITB India 2025, is set to take place from 2 – 4 September 2025 at the Jio World Convention Centre, Mumbai. The event is expected to attract global exhibitors and buyers, further enhancing India’s stature in the international travel and tourism arena.
A Strategic Launchpad for the Future
The establishment of Messe Berlin India reflects the group’s global strategy to localize operations in high-potential markets. The subsidiary will not only manage ITB India but also drive new business development, form strategic partnerships, and develop events tailored to local market demands. It marks a significant step in Messe Berlin’s global expansion and India-focused vision.
With a firm foothold in the Indian market, Messe Berlin is well-positioned to support local industries and elevate India’s presence in the global exhibitions ecosystem.
