This expedition is an opportunity to walk in the footsteps of Jacques-Yves Cousteau and to rediscover this unique paradise. The Galapagos islands are a sanctuary of marine life, once documented by the Captain himself.
Waterproof Expeditions and Cousteau Divers, bridge science and education with recreational diving and tourism. Led by his son PIERRE YVES COUSTEAU, the mission of this expedition is to use the Cousteau Divers site assessment methodology and provide participants with educational and awareness-raising material.
Divers regularly encounter squadrons of eagle rays flying by in close formation, as well as larger and more majestic manta rays. If we are lucky we are passed by a Whale Shark. Many dives are done as drift dives, and the dingy driver follows the bubbles along a predetermined route. The profusion of marine life can be dizzying.
By uniting a community of divers who are concerned about the marine environment, Cousteau Divers brings the legacy of Jacques-Yves Cousteau to life, making each diver an agent of the study and conservation of the aquatic realm.
To experience this paradise underwater as well as on land, and to travel hand in hand with Cousteau’s legacy, provides a unique platform for a once in a lifetime trip !
