We recently got back from the Dema show and had a great time. We were happy to introduce the latest additions to the Aquatica line up. Our A1DX MKII housing for the Canon 1DX MKII got a lot of interest from many people. It is undeniable that with a maximum of 14fps standard/16fps Live View burst rate and up to 170 RAW images per blast when using a Cfast card, as well as improved AF performance and 4K video capture, this camera is destined to be the camera of choice for serious underwater photographers.

Getting back in the water. Sometimes, life, the universe, and everything conspire to keep you out of the water. It happens. The trick is making sure you get back in the water safely. Some may have noticed that I’ve been pretty light on posts here for the last year or so; that’s because I’m one of those divers right now. So how am I going to get back in the water? Divers have rediscovered a 17th century shipwreck off Gunwalloe Church Cove in Cornwall, at exactly the spot where the shipwreck scene was filmed in 2014 for the TV series Poldark. First seen by a local diver in 1971 and designated under the Protection of Wrecks Act 1973, the wreck of the Schiedam had been buried for many years under the shifting sands of the cove.

When government biologists in Canada want to learn where caribou are, they put radio-tracking collars on some animals and monitor their movements. This gives them a rough idea of where herds are and where they travel, but it doesn’t tell them much about a caribou population’s history — travel routes before their habitat was degraded or historical feeding, breeding and calving spots.

The Perdix AI is capable of connecting to either one or two transmitters giving the diver the option to monitor both tanks or dive sidemount.

A diver-down flag warns boat operators that a scuba diver is in the water and they should proceed slowly, keeping a wide berth from the divers. The onus is on the divers to stay within a specific distance of the flag when near the surface, and also underwater. It is within a larger area around the flag that boats may not enter, usually between 50 to 300 feet of the dive flag. This flag is also used to identify a location where diving gear is sold or rented.
