The battle lines are drawn — in some cases literally. On one side are those reaping massive profits from fossil fuels, determined to extract and sell as much as possible before the market dries up. On the other are those who see the amazing potential of energy conservation, renewable energy and other innovations to reduce pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, ecosystem destruction and exploitation of valuable non-renewable resources.

Diving holiday specialist Regaldive has recently expanded its liveaboard programme in Oman with the addition of Oman Aggressor, a spacious steel yacht, built and powered for comfort, safety and stability. The 45 metre Oman Aggressor offers comfortable accommodation for 22 guests in 11 spacious, air-conditioned staterooms. All staterooms and the interior of the yacht are new with a stylish design.

I first dived the Red Sea back in 1974 with my very good friend Harry Simmonds on a marine biological course headed by Dr.Paul Cragg (a contemporary of my good friend Prof. David Bellamy), I had a loan of a Nikonos II underwater camera with no clue whatsoever on how it worked, but Jim Wlimot, Pete Bignel and Kevin Cullimore soon set me straight! I had picked up a Nikonos guide book by Jim & Cathy Church to read on the ‘plane to Eilat and took three rolls of 35mm film on our two week trip!
